IN SEARCH OF VAN HUNT........ come back to me daddy...
So last night I went to see the movie "Just Wright" with myself... And I absolutely adored the movie, I related to Queen.... and Common gave me every bit of eye candy that I needed. However I found a pleasent surprise within the audio......There were VAN HUNT SONGS FEATURED IN THE MOVIE... That did it for me.... I woke up this morning... In search of Van Hunt.....
I bought his first album based on a cut I heard on the radio.....
I just couldn't get enough of this cd.... it gave me everything, his soulful music was sultry and the songs were complex stories about complex people...He is so talented that it scared me... I was addicted.
Then came Katrina in 2005, my post Katrina life lead me to Atlanta... Between snapping my fingers and telling people you can find me in the "A" and meet me at the Trap, and I like my beat down low.... Van Hunt dropped!!! I heard no radio song however I am "Miss New Ish" so I found the music and adored him even more. It was called On the Jungle Floor it was almost as if i was having a romance with him....(don't laugh I'm serious)
I swear he was talking about me on this one....
Then I got to see him live with my bestie from DC and My Sister from Jersey!! He did this song live.... (this footage is from SOBs in New york)
Then I heard this song on Myspace...... "The Lowest 1 of my Desires"
And I thought I can't wait until the next cd comes out....
I didn't get it for some reason....because the album was shelved and the label Capitol Blue Note Records wouldn't release his masters... Van said he was devestated...
Sources say that he will drop 1 more album... I need him.
here' that infamous song I speak of live at BBKing's in NY
Ok this is off of his website: rare collectibles...

KAY SLAY GOING IN ON JAY ELECTRONICA...... drama king better fall back.....
too proud to beg for change mastering the pain
when new york niggas were calling southern rappers lame,
but then jacking our slang
These are the imortal words that I kept pressing replay over and over whenI first downloaded exzibit c by Jay Electronica.. I remember running that part back when I first played it on the Power Mix @ 5 pm (when I held it down) because of the truth of the verse. I got an opportunity to meet Jay E when he came did that concert for Traffic Boutique (my manz Crack Tracks).... I asked him "Jay, Do people feel some kinda way that you said that seeing as though the are playing your sh*t on hot 97 and sh*t"
Jay Electronica replied to me standing outside on Lee Circle... "the only poeple who worry about that line is n*ggas from New York, they are the only ones who get salty, outside of that n*ggas love it"
Months later Dj KAY SLAY decides to TWEET this
This jay electronica dude gettin real disrespectful towards Newyork niggas these days.. if he hates us so f—n’ much why does he rap like us.”) KAy Slay
This is what my dude Jay Electronica had to say in response....
(uptmost respect for speaking the truth and repping New Orleans like a real man from the Magnolia Project who had rap skills and gained his respect is supposed to.... Likw my dude Souljah slim said "Keep thinking that because I'm from Uptown that I love stuntin"

I'm even more of a fan of J.Cole with every month that passes... (I know I'm a D Rider).... But I am also watching closely Miguel as a singer... I think he might be the next big thing... But not in a cheesy trey way... (low blow.)
The audio is trash... but I posted it because I'm a fan!

R.I.P BRANDON FRANKLIN ...KEEP YA HEAD UP TO BE CONTINUED BRASS BAND......THIS SUNDAY'S TEA SHOW IS DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF BRANDON FRANKLIN
<em>You know every year my station Power 102.9 and Oldschool 106.7 give a Brass Band Blow Out. We always looked at "TO BE CONTINUED" as the "young" band.. I remember seeing them playing on Frenchmen Street and watching them, to seeing them at the HOB for Brass Band blowout.. The last BBB we had I told an older lady on stage... "damn they grown now".... Recently this April Kia, Fresh, Jinky Ashley and I went to the Big Easy Awards .... TO BE CONTINUED was nominated for Best Contemporary Jazz Band.. They lost to Soul Rebels but the nomination was like a win for us... we were proud and we sipped watermelon cocktails while thinking about how far they have come... then this happened....
I'm still trying to figure out where we went wrong as a city, and why our young men are taken from us time and time again. I didn't personally know Brandon Franklin however, we all know a young black man who was taken away from us behind violence that they didn't deserve. As I speak to different people in the community that knows Brandon, they all speak so highly of him.. His presence will be dearly and severely missed. We hear at the Tea, Power 102.9, Oldschool 106.7 would like to send our deepest sympathies to his family, To Be Conitinued Brass Band, O.Perry Walker Highschool and every friend and musician who will feel this lost the closest.
(that boy second line like he from the 9th Ward)
Every evening since the untimely death of TBC Brass Band’s saxophonist Brandon Franklin on Mother’s Day, his friends and family have paid tribute to him in his old neighborhood of the Ninth Ward. Over 40 musicians played together, all of them between high school age and early 30’s, from different bands, different high schools and the musical mastery was absolutely phenomenal. At any given time, various musicians took the lead in directing the band to transition songs or feature a horn player or a line of instruments, accomplished through coded beats and hand gestures all while navigating neighborhood streets, potholes, dancers and traffic and yet the music never once faltered. The songs just kept flowing, flying, diving, building wide and high into overflowing heartfelt testimonies of love for their fallen fellow soldier. The grief at times was visible and palpable amidst the crowd. But the fire of the music, marching and second-lining transformed the collective sadness into release, acceptance and celebration of a life that brought so much joy to the community. These tributes are a testament to the power of New Orleans culture, high school music programs and to a life lived right as several musicians testified to, exemplified in the words of TBC trombonist Edward ‘Juicy’ Jackson: “I’m not worried…cause Brandon was good with God.”

FAT JOE FT JEEZY....SLOW DOWN HA HA...(SIGHS) REMINDS ME OF BELLY...LET'S REVISIT BELLY
Ok you already know the sample comes from Soul II Soul's "Back to Life"...I actually admired that era....(sighs)... However the song's acapella was on the motion picture Belly (well actually the beat drops after the bridge and starts all over)... we remember the movie BEllY changed the way we looked at Movies as a hip hop generation....... Let's Revisit Belly........
SO.... With that being watched....
Why if this movie was such a major movie in our generation... Why was it heavily criticized as well as condemned by mainstream? And far worst the box-office numbers were horrible...
However Hype Williams is a genious he did an changed the video game with videos such as The Notorious B.I.G. ("Warning ") & ("One More Chance"), Craig Mack ("Flava In Ya Ear"), LL Cool J ("Doin' It"), Nas ("If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)", "Street Dreams", "Hate Me Now"), Missy Elliott ("The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)", "She's a Bitch"), Busta Rhymes ("Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See"), TLC ("No Scrubs"), Kelis ("Caught Out There"), and Jay-Z ("Big Pimpin'"), Aaliyah ("Rock The Boat") and is currently working with such of the likes as Kian and Christina Aguilera, Betonce's "Videophone"
Hype is a Genious...... Now New Music Videos are going back to Belly... For example the New Drake video.... Look Below
But I'm starting to believe that certain works of art aren't made for other people to understand... It's for our culture. For us to enjoy, remember and honor.. I still keep DMX in my prayers...
One more thing.... The Original Soul 2 Soul Track

LLLOOYYEEEE!!!! WACKA FLOCKA MAMA GOING OFF HERE!!
So yesterday on the Tea Show I reported and played a clip of Puff Daddy (I still say puff) denouncing the rumors that he had now become Nicki Minaj's manager.
However I'm starting to think that he is a pie logger due to the fact that it has been confirmed that Nicki has fired her manager Deb Atney who is also Wacka Flocka's Mom.... Also sources say that Gucci Mane has also Fired Deb as well as dismantling the label "So Icey" that they co-partnered.... He is now starting Brick Squad 1017 and bringing Wacka Flocka to that label as well....LOL.... TEA....
This is a video interview that Hip-Hop Live did with Deb Atney and she is going off!!! She said the lies about her booking shows while gucci was in jail are false, and sh not beefing with Gucci cause that is her nephew!!! And she loves nicki..... hmnn Now thats tea....

NEW MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RANGE FT RICK ROSS.........GUESS WHAT...HE IS SIGNED TO ROC NATION
The newest talent to sign with the StarRoc/RocNation family, emerging singer/songwriter/producer Range has written for heavy hitters Ludacris (Range wrote the hook on “One More Drink”, which is receiving an ASCAP Award for one of the chart topping Rhythm and R&B singles of 2009); Jamie Foxx (“Cover Girl”); and T-Pain (“Down Low”). He also wrote the hook on Lil’ Kim’s “Download”, and collaborated on songs for The Game and J. Holiday. BEYONCE'S NEW VIDEO: WHY DON'T YOU LOVE ME?
"Why Don't You Love Me" - Beyoncé from Beyoncé on Vimeo.
Ok... although the song embodies my biggest fears and that's why I'm never getting married. I will say she gives me body, style and make-up!! I mean Miss Beyonce NEVER GOES WRONG!!! I mean I love her burning the pot roast and dusting the Grammys....
DRAKE ON CNN "I LIKE TO STUDY WOMEN, I LIKE TO WRITE FOR WOMEN"
I like Drake a little more after this interview. No matter how much I want to be like oh "Young Money Artist" I can't. I think because conceptually Drake created a "different" kind of rapper when he started doing his mixtapes... And as much as I say I'm not into him... The truth of the matter is I am into his music. I do think that he taps into territories that aren't stereotypical because he physically personifies everything that isn't hip hop while spitting hip-hop very well. I mean I'm kind of over songs that kind of ignored women or sexually objectified them. I mean "you the best" was cute... It became disgustingly repetitive but it was cute nonetheless.. Frankly, I love the song "Find Your Love"
Ok Drake.
